Ad Verification Tool

View the status of each of your creatives using our Ad Verification Tool. See instructions below for how to use this tool, including what to do with creatives identified as Unverifiable and how to escalate the processing of urgent campaigns/creatives.

Each new ad brought to auction must pass verification. For an ad to qualify for verification, the bid response must include properly formatted ad quality fields and be assigned IAB categories. See Qualify for Ad Verification for more information.

Creatives are processed within 2 business days of arrival, processing does not occur on weekends or holidays. View the status of your creatives using the Ad Verification tool.

Ad Verification Dashboard

Click the Ad Verification tab to open a high level view of your creatives along with details of their status, date arrived, etc.

Status Categories

Creatives are divided into four status categories. They are:

  • To Verify: our processing queue.
  • Verified: creatives which have been processed and categorized successfully
  • Needs Help: creatives  which have been identified as needing a second internal opinion before final classification can be made.
  • Unverifiable: those which are unable to be verified without additional information or action from the bidder.

Status: To Verify

Creatives that have not yet been processed by the ONE by AOL: Mobile team with the most recent arrivals at the top of the page. Creatives that have arrived in the last month are displayed, limited to the most recent 2500. Creative attributes, such as ad size, crid, cid, iurl, and adomain are also shown.

The section on the left shows each campaign and the count of creatives within the campaign. Just click the campaign to see those creatives in the right hand section.

Key to colored text next to adomain field:

  • Yellow indicates that the adomain is properly formatted (ex. verizon.com), but that our system has no record of verified creatives with a matching adomain
  • Green indicates that our system has a record of verified creatives with a matching adomain
  • Red indicates that the adomain is not properly formatted

To return to the main Ad Verification screen, press the “Back to Filter” button at the top right of the page.

Status: Verified

Verified creatives have successfully passed through the process and the IAB Level-2 content category and adomain has been assigned. Creatives that have been verified and have arrived in our system within the last month are displayed with the most recently processed ads first, limited to the most recent 2500.

Status: Needs Help

This status is assigned to your Creatives when our verification staff needs additional information or clarification from you to be able to approve verification.

Status: Unverifiable

Creatives that can not be verified (usually due to adomain and/or Tier-2 IAB category issues) may require action or additional information from the bidder. Creatives that have been processed as Unverifiable and have arrived in our system within the last month are displayed with the most recently processed ads first, limited to the most recent 2500.

Check the Status field to find the reason the creative was determined unverifiable (in parentheses). Possible reasons a creative would be unverifiable:

  • Issues with the iurl
    • Creative image does not display in the Ad Verification tool. Generally, a broken image symbol will appear instead, and the ad size listed is far smaller than a normal ad size (e.g. 14x16)
    • The iurl is a tracking pixel. These may have [TIMESTAMP] in the iurl, and the ad size may be listed as 1x1
    • The iurl is a link to rich media
    • Other (anything not covered by the reasons above)
  • Issues with the adomain
    • adomain is a link to the app store (e.g. play.google.com for Android app store, or itunes.apple.com for iOS)
    • adomain is inactive. Entering adomain into a browser address bar shows the page is broken. In this case, ONE by AOL: Mobile cannot verify that the creative image matches the advertiser
    • Other (anything not covered by the reasons above)
  • Issues with the creative
    • The advertiser cannot be identified from the creative image. In this case, ONE by AOL: Mobile cannot verify that the advertiser for the creative matches the adomain
    • Other (anything not covered by the reasons above)

Resetting Unverifiable Creatives

Creatives that were processed and found to be Unverifiable may be reset once the offending issues have been fixed. For example, a creative may have been processed as "Unverifiable" because the iurl was broken and the creative image did not render. After you have replaced the iurl with one that renders properly, ask your Demand Services Manager to reset the creative. Follow this process:

  • Email your ONE by AOL: Mobile Demand Services Manager with the following details:
    • Subject: Ad Verification Reset
    • Body: Include details of the creative or campaign you would like to reset. The easiest way to do this is to copy directly from the Ad Verification UI.
    • Indicate whether you need to reset an entire campaign or only a single creative.
  • ONE by AOL: Mobile Demand Manager will then:
    • Search the Ad Verification tool for campaigns/creatives matching provided IDs
    • Reset the campaign/creatives you requested
    • Respond to original email confirming reset is complete

The next time the creative is seen by our system, it will be flow into the “To Verify” queue to be processed.

Requesting Priority Campaign/Creative Processing

We understand that occasionally you may have high-value or otherwise important campaigns/creatives that require a quicker verification turn-around than the standard 48 hour time. We will make every effort to accommodate this, however, expediting is only available on weekdays, no holidays or weekends. The escalation process is as follows:

    • Specify whether all creatives in a campaign should be processed or only a select creative/group
  • ONE by AOL: Mobile Demand Manager will make every effort to verify the creative(s) quickly following this process:
    • Search the Ad Verification tool for campaigns/creatives matching provided IDs
    • Verify adomain and assign Tier-2 IAB category
    • Respond to original email to confirming verification is complete
